STEWARDSHIP SYSTEM CONSULTING

Strategy and Systems for Environmental Impact

Stewardship Systems is a consulting practice that helps environmental leaders strengthen their impact through strategy, training, and systems design. Founded by conservationist Jason Weinerman and educator Cari Kenner, Jason combines practical experience with systems thinking and a deep understanding of how good governance supports meaningful outcomes for land, water, and community.

Stewardship Systems collaborates with mission-driven teams to turn complexity into clarity. By designing clear workflows and aligning goals with public value, the consultancy strengthens governance, sharpens direction, and supports lasting impact.

WHERE WE WORK

Stewardship Systems works with governments and nonprofits across the United States to strengthen operations, improve governance, and build systems that support effective stewardship. While Jason is available for national projects, his current focus is regional, with work concentrated in Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Due to professional obligations, Stewardship Systems does not currently take on projects in Minnesota.

OUR MISSION

Turning Stewardship Goals into Practical Results

Stewardship Systems equips public-serving organizations to turn their environmental and civic goals into practical results. Through strategy, collaboration, and experience in governance, the practice supports work that is both effective and enduring.

Lasting impact depends on systems that connect people, purpose, and the daily practices that make progress possible. Stewardship Systems helps leaders see those connections and build the clarity and trust needed for long-term success.

OUR APPROACH

Systems-Thinking for
Real-World Stewardship

Stewardship Systems begins each partnership by listening. Jason takes time to understand how each organization works, what challenges it faces, and where it wants to go. From there, he develops practical strategies that support environmental and conservation goals while aligning with each team’s capacity and mission.

As one of the few consulting practices dedicated specifically to environmental and stewardship work, Stewardship Systems brings a focus that reflects the unique nature of conservation systems. These efforts rely on collaboration, public trust, and long-term thinking rather than short term gains.

Jason applies systems thinking to help leaders connect people, programs, and policies in ways that lead to better decisions and lasting outcomes. Each project is tailored to the organization, but the goal remains the same: to strengthen governance and support forward movement with clarity and purpose.

Jason Weinerman leads Stewardship Systems and works with local governments and conservation agencies to turn complex plans into practical action. With more than 30 years of experience in conservation planning, public administration, and systems implementation, he brings structure and clarity to projects that connect policy, compliance, and collaboration.

As a Board Conservationist for the state, Jason has partnered with counties, watershed districts, and soil and water teams to develop strategies that meet both local needs and state goals. He also serves on local planning boards, where he reviews land use proposals and supports long-term environmental planning.

His background in political science and environmental studies, along with a master’s degree in public administration, allows him to translate policy into practice with insight and precision.

Whether advising on governance, modeling processes, or facilitating interagency work, Jason provides grounded, systems-based support that helps organizations move forward with clarity and confidence.
